I'll bet it's actually less than a slap on the wrist depending on your reaction. My experience with military installations is that they usually give you the option to leave. Believe it or not, military police and contractors are usually nice guys just trying to do a job. They've done their job if they keep illegal activities under control. Thus, you leaving meets their mandate.
At least that's how all the innocent gun incidents I know of have been handled. I'm sure it also depends on the zealousness of the particular policeman.
