In 1985, I was assigned to a DEA task force and was issued a Colt Detective Special .38. When I went to leave for duty in the morning, I could not find my Detective Special.....Tore the house apart, but could not find it. I go out to my car, and there it was in the IWB holster, up on the dash board in plain open view. Mind you, I was parked on the street and the car was unlocked! Either I was a lucky guy, or people walking by thought it was some type of setup??
In any event, I learned a valuable lesson and threw an extra dollar in the collection basket at church the next Sunday.
YES, I had SHEER PANIC the rest of the day and into that evening.
