I shot J-frames for a long time before purchasing my first Colt snub-nose, old style with exposed ejector rod. The Colts are a little bigger and a little heavier. Whether or not these features make them a bit easier to shoot well in comparison with the small S&Ws, I don't know. Like the S&Ws, however, the Colts are still sensitive to grip firmness as it applies to bullet point of impact and group size.

Advantages or disadvantages of the exposed ejector rod and added round capacity of the Colt are debatable at best; just depends on individual tastes.
