I don't understand.

It seems to me as if it might be a better idea to just keep your weapon locked up. There are plenty of those "speed" type safes around that make your weapon secure, but quickly accessible.

In the extreme, there's always the "old school" rule of keeping your weapons and ammunition in separate, locked cases, if they aren't immediately on your person and in your control.
