Well, if the exposed ejector rod is seen as a potential liability, the later series with the shroud may provide an answer. Here is my Colt Agent, with the shrouded ejector rod, and wearing a period Tyler T Grip. This one is well worn, and has been carried quite a bit:



Although a later version, this one has the same gloss finish as the Cobra, and not the parkerized finish of the later versions. Note that although it has the shroud, it retains the smaller grips of the original Agent. With its light weight and six rounds, it makes a pretty appealing concealed carry gun.
