Default Talk me out of this one.

I picked up a 24-3 with a 6.5" barrel and patridge front sight a few years ago. It is a good tight revolver but it looks like it rode in a soft case under some stump jumper's pickup seat. A lot of scratches all over it. Not a collector piece at all.

I'm considering sending it off and having it cut down to a 5" length and possibly putting a ramp sight on board. Opinions? No 'smiths around here so a recommendation would be appreciated as well.
