The finish is scratched up now. It's no longer "original." Refinish it and it won't be "original", either. That boat has left the dock.

These are mass-produced tools, not sacred religious icons. Do what you think will make you happy.

I have an extra 6-1/2 inch Model 624 I bought with the intentions of having it cut to 5 inches. It's a great idea. I just never get around to finding people to do my projects. I just checked, and I bought the extra 624 in 2003. Good thing my house isn't on fire...

In passing, Hamilton Bowen no longer does any work on Smith & Wessons.
