Your 28 looks perfectly normal to me and I own and shoot several. Model 28s are known for the cylinder turning a "plum" color, i.e. purple. Also, finding a barrel switch on a 28 would be unlikely since the Model went out of production 30+years ago and 28s are so common switching barrels is probably not cost effective.
