I had a semi-auto Auto Ordnance Thompson. Cast lead bullets went through it as fast as you could pull the trigger. The lead buildup in the Cutts Compensator was very thick. I also have a compensated barrel for a 1911. Shooting 100 rounds will almost fill the bottom of the comp with lead/lube/powder residue.
Based on my experience with "lead buildup" , I woulded shoot lead in a suppressor unless it was 22 LR-- not much choice in that caliber.
