That's ironic. Everything you stated was almost the same with me when I bought my Sport I (5) years ago. But, the OR price was like $1029, or somewhere in that area. And, they had the Sport with the carry handle as well. I too chose the Sport I because of the barrel, sights, and price.
I just wish my son would return it!
