I like 1911's and have or have had many brands, including several Colts, a few Kimber's and even an Auto Ordnance (which for the price was not bad), and beyond a doubt, my S&W is the most accurate out of the box 1911 I've ever owned. Period. Who says there's no love for them? Yes, they are a bit pricey, but compared feature to feature with other name brands, they hold their own in that department, and are a bargain when compared to some.

As a slight diversion, I've also owned non-1911 45's such as the HK USP and Sig P220, and prefer the 1911's. One of my primary carry pieces is a 1911 design 9mm.
