A 44 Mag is nothing like shooting a 500 either.
I'm a short barrel guy. I've got the 3-1/2" ES & my son has a 4". (The 4" is only 3" of rifled barrel & 1" of comp.)
Which ever you choose hopefully you handload because that's the only real way to enjoy the 500 to it fullest, & the cheapest  .

After viewing the picture of your ES I had to get my 5" JRC out to compare the muzzles. The rifling in my barrel runs right up to the crown whereas yours seems to be recessed(1/8"-1/4"). Now, I know the ESs were not made until after I bought mine from John so, would you happen to know the reason for this difference?
