I actually have the SW9VE (NOT the same as the SD) and have used the SW9VEs as loaners and trainers for two decades. The SW9VE is an economical, rugged, and reliable service pistol, with a long, hard trigger pull like a double-action revolver. The main reason for developing the SD9VE was to put in a better trigger.

My advice to anyone on the SW9VE is either love it as it is, or don't buy it, since there is little you can do to change the basic trigger. The SD (improved Sigma, uses same magazines) is better, and the M&P pistol series is MUCH better, and has many more aftermarket goodies available.

Around here, a used SW is worth about $150 and a new SD can be had for $275.
