I ordered my stainless CS45 the first year they were released in stainless, which I believe was '99.
A close friend got the CS9 & CS45 when they were first released, with carbon steel slides and black sideplates, and I think that may have been late '98 or early '99.
I remember they were still reportedly making short runs of the CS9/45's after they had been dropped from the commercial catalog, as they were popular among LE for off-duty. They sold by word-of-mouth, with hardly any advertising needed by that point.
