I do have an R1 E in SS (not the R1 that everyone seems to be quoting) and I really like it. It locks up nice and shoots pretty well - really loving the BT grip safety vs the old GI style. I bought mine last year for a little over $700 (no rebate) and have no regrets. With the rebate on, I keep getting tempted to get a Commander version but then spend my money on Shields and XDs due to those deals.
