For the casual look (non-tactical), I've been using "rachet" style belts since forever (before even they made it to the gun apparel industry).
Today, I wear the
Kore Trakline belt as part of my EDC. It's 1-1/2" wide, rigid, stylish, and relatively inexpensive for a ratchet/slide -type of gun belt. These belts support firearms up to something like 4 pounds or so.
