Phil, not crazy about having the fin grip, but it does work. Springfield and Ruger both went with similar ideas. The only other option is to go the "fixed mag" route. There you have to break the rifle open to drop the mag. Or go with loading through the ejection port. And to me, either option makes dealing with jams a royal PIA.

Until such time Congress/SCOTUS mandates otherwise, those of us out here are left with limited choices. The factory rifles may be *****, but they do give us a choice. Just glad that we haven't been totally abandoned by the factories.
