It sounds reasonable with the numbered matching red box. If the box doesn't match then I'd say it's still not too out of line. The box is worth $300-600. I've seen some decent outdoorsman sell in the $1,200 range. So you're at $1,500-1800 already. As with all S&W's the top few % points of condition and all matching serial numbered parts, boxes, paperwork make a huge difference in value. I see this being especially true in the K-22 market. There are only a small number of very high condition complete packages out there and they can command multiples of value compared to a 85% shooter with a box. Also people quote boxes going for $1,000... very unlikely. It probably happened once or twice but I've seen them sell no reserve on eBay between $300 and $600 even with a Helpful Hints and paper. A K-22/40 2nd model Masterpiece box is different from a 1st Model outdoorsman.
