I'm going to guess that the coil pin is coming apart, and is contributing to your extraction problem. The pin will come out with enough force, but it comes out in pieces. The trick is to use a smaller diameter punch so there is room for the "pieces" to be ejected. I ended up buying a bag of replacement coil pins from McMaster Carr and replacing the pin every time I took it out. (I do the same on the block pins for the same reason). When the pin starts to disintegrate, the pressure on the extractor gets less. I'll send you a few spare coil pins if you want, I had to buy them in bags of 25 so I have a bunch lying around.
