While the Buck was a fair deal the Case Kodiak was a smoking deal. I paid double what you did for my Pawn shop Kodiak. Yours is more worn but mine has idiot scratches from sharpening. They are the same vintage, late 1960s. Notice there are no pores in the cut in the front of the stag that blends it to the guard. That is what makes India or Sambar stag superior. It is solid to the center. Newer Case knives have the pores there filled with a substance something like putty. The pores show after that wears off.

I've had my Buck 119 since about 1969. I find the thinner Case CV carbon steel blade easier to resharpen and the Kodiak is a classier. However, apparently my Buck 119 terrified Big Foot so bad that he never came after me.
