I just heard from Roy. He states that this Triple Lock shipped in December of 1907. Roy also states the marking '44 S&W' is for a revolver chambered for the 44 Russian cartridge. The chambers clearly accept 44 Special ammunition, so I wonder if the 7-16 marking on the grip frame means it was rechambered for that cartridge at that time. The cylinder does bear the same SN as the gun, so the cylinder should be original.
I suppose a letter is the only way to get to the bottom of this one.

I hate to say it but Roy's info is incorrect.I have Serial Number 421 with the early Barrel marking and the Gun has always been chambered in .44spl,Not 44 Russian.
