Ignorance of the law is no excuse. But if you are "felony stupid" perhaps claiming that you can't tell the difference between real and imitation ivory could be a defense to prosecution. At least you might avoid jail time, get the case refiled as a civil complaint (Feds like to this all the time), pay the $500.000.00 fine and be made to take an Ivory Identification Class.
