Keep this in mind: when using a Golden rod type dehumidifier, you can't tell if it's working unless you have a gauge inside the safe that reads the humidity. That's not to say they aren't a good fix to the problem, but anything electrical can/will burn out and stop working. For this reason, if you don't have a humidity gauge, a light bulb is a good idea because it offers instant visual proof that it's working.
FWIW: I have a rod and gauge inside one of my safes and the humidity runs between 35% and 40%. I have lights inside the other safe and the humidity runs about the same.
