My “beater” 38/44 5” Transition SN 678xx. Purchased as a parts donor long ago @ $200. Indeed, ‘almost-decent’ original grips and good hammer soon yielded to recipient Transition models, one in 44 Spl. After some decades, this ‘specimen’ itself perhaps coming of age for respect, even if not restoration worthy! Bore decent; to recollection, finish the largest negative. Of course, at the rate I ponder… Moving forward on it in my next life! 😊

Love these Transition & 1950 N Frame models! Unless true basket cases, always prefer to see them kept original & cleaned up as possible or perhaps decent restorations. Yet the latter, often not economic. Quality work pricing pushing beyond resulting ‘net worth’!

Rechambering? Viewpoint respected and perhaps ‘utilitarian’ rather than ‘idealist’. Yet from 'history in hand' to 'nice old gun'.
