The 30-30 is,IMO one of the 2 calibers that can be loaded to its full potential with cast bullet and IMR3031.The other being the 45-70.
I once had a couple of young shooters looking amusingly at my cast bullets loaded rounds.I luckily had a few 45-70 cast bullets loaded at muy fps with 510gr bullets(I know this is a 30-30 post but I can't help to relate this as some people think that these 2 calibers are ''hasbeen''.)I had one of the shooters try one...after seing his fellow shooter wince at his shoulder,he declined the offer to try it too.As far as I know,them 2 shooters are now extrolling the vertues of cast bullets in ''old time calibers''like the 30-30 and 45-70.
