If I was going to get a 9mm 1911 I'd get one of the new Colt Competitions. I have a Competition Stainless in .38 Super and have been very impressed. The 9mm version should work just as well.
I have one (blued-9mm). It's a range favorite. Pretty good set-up for the money right out of the box.
