I also looked at my 4th edition and it's not precise regarding the "CLC" prefixed 586L Comp. It does indicate these Performance Center models were made in 2000, 2004, and 2009 and the S/Ns may have all begun with
"CLC".

From chapter 9:
"Model 586 L Comp Caliber – .357 Magnum, Full lug 3" Ported barrel with Tritium Dot front night sight and Micrometer click rear sight, Altamont Rosewood grips, 7-shot cylinder recessed for moon clips, Black finish, Shipped with locking Aluminum case and Master Trigger Gun Lock- Offered by Camfour Dist. First Blue finish revolver in 7-shot offered by S& W. 37.5oz CLCxxxx serial prefix, 2000 and 2004...

Product codes:
170170 3" 7-shot w/ Moon Clips 2000
170248 3" 7-shot 2004
170317FC 3" 7-shot 2009

Supica, Jim; Nahas, Richard. Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson (Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson)"

In the appendices for serial numbers, "CLC" is specifically listed as being used for revolvers being made in the year 2000.

I vote for 2000.
