Yes -- I took the new-style thumbpiece off and substituted an old-style thumbpiece.
I prefer the appearance of the old-style thumbpiece.
And I've always thought (with no empirical data to back me up) that the slanted-face new-style thumbpiece when pushed puts downward or sideways pressure on the bolt, whereas the old-style thumbpiece directs thumb pressure in line with the bolt's intended travel. Anyway, I just like the old style.
