I wasn't a 1911 guy either, mostly Third Gens and revolvers, until for some reason I suddenly had to have an early SW1911. Spent the money, sold the first one, upgraded to an earlier one of the first 200 and with the JRD prefix, and so far have managed to have scratched that particular itch. Haven't really stopped to think about the nice 3G or revolver I coulda-woulda-shoulda had with the 1911 funds. It's fun to shoot, and that's what's worth it to me in the final analysis. It's also kinda cool to me to have a Billboard, even though I know a lot of folks don't really like the look. I didn't either until something about the provenance and the piece of S&W history involved spoke to me.
