And yes, the DPD must have really liked all their nickel guns. I remember dad's 1st duty revolver that was his department issue as a rookie.
I don't remember what model, but I'm sure it was a S&W 38 special, most likely with a 5 inch barrel, and probably the current offering from S&W for 1950. and yes, that gun was also Nickel plated. Probably some early version of a model 10.
Dad actually had a Negligent Discharge with that gun inside our house, while the whole family was home. I was about 9 years old at the time. (Feel free to ask me sometime).
