My FS is a nightstand gun and my Shield is what I carry but hey, those Shields don't do much better.
Torture tests are just that. Real world events don't normally happen like the movies or torture test.

Last April in a rifle class it started to snow then rain and it rained all day. Turned the field into mud and muck. Some guns were dropped. They didn't automatically disintegrate or melt. They just got dirty.
