+1 on^^. You said you have a G22 for defense. So I'm assuming you want a 686 for range use or maybe as a sportsman's carry. (And I carry my 6" 686-1 as a sportsman's gun a lot. Nothing wrong with a 6" for that). I'd get the pre lock simply because it's a bit more classic and you really don't need the lock function. Put on a set of nice wood grips for show- but keep the Pachs. They are good in the field.
