I had the same thing when mine was new. Called S&W, they promptly sent me two new mag springs and followers, and at my request threw in a second flat mag baseplate. The gun has been perfect ever since, through hundreds of rounds. It's my EDC. I shoot it much better than my former carry, a 642. I've got three friends who have bought and carry Sig P238's. Those are sweet little guns, but I'm not the least tempted to buy one. Sticking with my BG.
