I very much understand and appreciate the concern! However, the biggest concern about Steel Shot in older barrels is first: with Damascus barrels and second: with Full chokes. #1 really doesn't apply and as to #2, these are Modified chokes (for lead) and that makes them Full choke for steel. I still haven't bought a 20 gauge box of #2 Steel yet (I've never seen them on sale & I hate to pay full price!) I used to goose hunt with a 3" 12 gauge that had the chokes honed to IC/IC even though it was marked Mod/Full and those were really tight enough for 40+ yard shots (that is close) on geese. I have some other 20's that I may open up too!
