I've shot quite a few full load .44 magnum rounds through my 629-2 and it doesn't have any indication of a problem. I've probably put 250 rounds through it and not one was a .44 special. I tend to see that as taking the fun out of it. But that's me. I wouldn't shoot any of the real heavy rounds through it or any other 629 for that matter.
Just curious, but who rates them as "sub-standard"? I know that the -1 is prior to the performance package, but are any they less durable than the P&R model 29? If so, why? Is the stainless somehow less durable than blued carbon steel?
