Since posting this two years ago, as much as I love the 586 L-Comp and 627 UDR, I have completely switched over to a 5th Gen. Glock 17 (same as my 4th Gen. duty gun but 9mm instead of .40) with 800 Lumen TLR-1 and Galco Halo Holster for most all carry; on a hot Summer day a Glock 43 for pocket carry. Both loaded with Fed Prem HST.
I still use an S&W M&P R8 or TRR8 in the wilderness for the longer range and almost double the energy (also, if Moses and Thor get too far out as I watch them on GPS, they immediately return to me if they hear the report of the .357).
As an aside, qualifying with the 586 L-Comp on our 50 round timed course-of-fire took 7 reloads, the G-17 takes two.
