You can only have a 4" barrel in IDPA. A 625 is a viable contender. Kind of big for concealed carry, but fine for the match. The 645 is a semi-auto.
I'm shooting a 4" 686 converted to .40 S&W. Smith has made these before, they are called 646. Kind of hard to find and pricey, so I just made my own.
Many of the .38 special or .357 6 shot guns work fine for IDPA too, and can be moonclipped.
