Brass may be, in fact, harder than steel, but it doesn’t expand like brass.
One rule I follow when shooting steel case and brass cased on the same trip to the range, is to shoot the brass first.
Steel, by not expanding, leaves a residue and if you shoot it first, brass will sometimes stick in the chamber.
