I can't fit my digital caliper into the 10-22 breech to measure the thickness of the Volquartsen extractor (and I'm not taking time to take the bolt out), but I did measure a replaced Ruger extractor. It's .068 -- closer to your measured .071 than 063.

Do you think there's a chance you purchased a 10-22 extractor by mistake? Or, that Volquartsen put the wrong extractor in the package?
Nope. The profiles are very different. I have a grunch of VQ extractors in my Rugers as well.

VQ is making it right in a painless matter. That's OK with me. Everybody puts out a clanker from time to time. How they handle it is what's important. VQ gets an A+.
