OK, I recently got my 58 from my local gun pusher emporium. It had been electroless nickel plated over what looked like sand. The surfaces looked like it had acne. I had it stripped and redone in hard chrome, since it is intended to be a working revolver. I have a left handed holster mounted under the steering column of my truck, and when I have to go into some of the less civilized areas of Dallas, the 58 accompanies me.
It is fun to go to the local range (indoors) to practice. With the first shot, a deathly silence descends over the lanes, and the dust slowly drifts down from the ceiling. With the second shot, if I am in the public lanes, the person next to me quickly packs up and leaves. I swear the muzzle blast is worse than my wife's model 29, and it also lets everyone know it is out for the evening.
