The Model 28 sells for quite a bit less up here on the Last Frontier. I guess everyone who moves to Alaska thinks they have to have a .44 Magnum or a 500 S&W. Or something. I see HPs (28-2) all the time at gun shows for around $500; both barrel lengths.

I do like my .44s but I still favor the Models 27 and 28.

However, in the mid-1980s I was out and about in the wintertime and had to shoot a charging cow moose to keep her from running over the top of me and my partner and our snow machines. I hit her right in the face with a jacketed 140 grain .357 bullet at about 25 feet. It turned her, but a couple hours later I went looking for her to see if she needed to be finished off. I found her in some willows eating!!! I started packing a .44 Magnum after that.
