If there is anyone in your area who blues guns, you might see if he will just blue your gun without any prior polishing. Good polishing is what runs up the price, the actual bluing process is very simple, pretty much just cleaning the parts and dunking them in the bluing salts tank. You can do the disassembly and reassembly yourself. Otherwise, you might use one of the spray and bake teflon finishes or the Lauer Duracoat spray, although it is a bit expensive. But there are even other options like DIY rust bluing or DIY phosphating.
