Actually, longer barrels (to a certain extent of course) are more comfortable for AIWB. Keeper's Concealment recommends, and I agree, buying the full-size version of pistols, even when carrying the compact models. The extra length helps balance the holster at the belt line, and instead of digging into your thigh fits more along the crease of your leg. YMMV.
