Default Ouch! Make sure you know when a .455 Webley Triple Lock has been rebored...

A Triple Lock in .455 Webley with any condition these days is in the $1500 + range...the + part of that equation is often significantly more.

Unless it has been rebored to .45 Colt/.45 ACP. Note: NEVER fire .45 ACP in your modified .455 Webley Triple Lock!!! Stick to .45 Long Colt!

In any event, I attended a brick & mortar auction today that featured a Triple Lock advertised as being in .455 Webley. Two photographs on line for those unable to preview in person, but wishing to bid over the internet or by telephone. Neither showed the chambers. It was obvious that the chamber walls had been bored out. Further verified by my .45 Colt round easily sliding in.

As rebored, these sell in the $825 to $850 range all day long. Had this been not rebored, the $800 to $1200 pre-auction estimate was a bit on the low side, even with a 22% buyer's premium.

Someone bid $900 on this one. With buyer's premium, this ran $1098 plus sales tax.

Ouch! And someone probably thought they got a bargain today. I wonder if they have any suspicions?
