I know it is not scientific but it sure is fun on a 90 degree Mississippi day. I usually try out a hollow point in whatever revolver went to the range with me on that day. I lined up six water jugs and tried out a Federal 357 180 Grain SJHP. It put a dent in the back of the 4th jug and expanded well. I had some jugs left so I lined them up and loaded a Remington 38 FBI load in the same 686. It busted the back of the 4th jug then fell back. It too expanded well. I was surprised that the old FBI load held its own against the Federal 357 round.
