My new 856 does
not have the lock on the hammer (or any where else). Nor does it have the writing on the barrel. The new one is more plain and the grips (one piece) are held in place with a roll pin (rather than a screw). It it good quality, but one can tell that Taurus tried to knock every superfluous expense out of its manufacture.
