I would recommend any S&W 22 LR revolver not over 4” barrel for weight considerations. Shorter barrels for plinking may result in less accuracy.
This may be blasphemy on the S&W forum. But you may want to consider Ruger LCRx in 22LR with the three inch barrel.

My post mentioned nothing of defense. Lightweight pretty much leaves out the all steel longer barreled guns most common for plinking. That leaves us with scandium, alloy and polymer based guns. I made a suggestion based on that. And in 22 Mag you now have a dual purpose gun as well.
