While I made a business of holsters, including carved and tooled versions, my personal preference has always been for plain oiled-tan leather. Nothing else satisfies that little spot inside me that identifies the quality of a well-made leather holster, that satin-glow, the perfectly burnished edges, the perfect forming work.
I have a few that qualify for duty at any nice barbeque party, but most of my working holsters are very plain (until you start noticing the details).
