Good advice. I always use public places. I also ask for an advance verification (LTC copy or state website printout) that they have a valid firearms licence to carry. That way: a) I have an electronic record of who I'm dealing with and b) proof that my contact are good enough folks to retain a state firearms licence.
FWIW, I probably do 10-12 of these face to face meetings year with likely over 100 of them behind me. I have never had a problem with anyone following these guidelines.
