Unfortunately Illinois does not have a state preemption law and, as noted above, at least one other city nearby has passed a similar law which has been upheld thru the courts, though how far up it has gone I don't know. It seems likely that as long as they don't attempt to ban ALL firearms they are likely to get by with it. Time to get a revolver, 12-gauge pump and a manual repeating rifle.
